LunchBox

Hello readers, this time I am writing about a very nostalgic memory of school time that you can relate it to yourself too.

Lunchbox ... Most of us may remember those school days when we use to carry a box also known as 'DABBA' .. there was a time that we eagerly waited for 'THE RECESS'. There was a duration of time before the much awaited recess when we used to crave for the home-made delicacies packed in our small LUNCHBOXES with loads of love. As the school bell rang our hands went straight into our bags to grab the treasure of delicious, yummilicious food from our bags. Recess was the time when all the tables and chairs used to come together like a jigsaw puzzle and in a matter of seconds the whole classroom transformed into a big luncheonette filled up with hungry stomachs ready to be fueled up with filling appetites.
Finally! the much awaited moment came when the LUNCHBOXES were opened and the aroma of the finger licking food rushed throughout the classroom. The table was filled up with diverse delicacies from around the mighty nation. It seemed like the whole map of India was appearing on those rustic wooden benches with engravings of creative minds. On corner was south and just below was north, east on the left and west on the right seemed like the whole of India was scattered on the benches but still appeared like united.
All these precious moments were cherished by us at one time but now things have undergone a huge and drastic transformation
In the span of past 10-15 years we may have progressed hugely but somewhere we have lost some of our essential feelings and emotions towards things that once we used to cherish but now not even bother to give it a thought, and one of these things is our unforgettable LUNCHBOX. These days the trends have overtaken the joy and love for the LUNCHBOXES. The stacks of money has beaten the lunchboxes in the race to make its place in the hearts of the innocent ones. The opening of several cafeterias and snack brands in the campus of the school has lead to the diversion of kids toward the fast food culture.(or to be particular the "junk food culture" :-P). The junk roots of the junk food have made their grip into the innocent mind. The money is ruling over our once loved Lunchbox and its beautiful, memorable, delicious, and majestic delicacies.

I request you all if any of you want to share any of your school #lucnhbox memory with us, you are most welcome.

So, I sign of for this time. See you again next week with a new topic, till then Bye.!!

Hypocritical Mentality

Hi Readers, this week I am highlighting a topic that must draw your attention. The topic is Hypocritical Mentality of Ours. Yes, you believe it or not we all are hypocrites.

Hypocrisy can be seen even in our homes. It start from our childhood. Almost each one of us have once ever pledged or written in copies that we should no litter our surroundings, but how many of us actually obey it. This might seems a very small issue, but it's not. The roots of Hypocritical mentality start growing in our young minds.

In my views to judge that a person is a hypocrite or not jut apply a simple formula :

Hypocrisy = Beliefs - Actions
Giving bribes to ensure your welfare, asking for dowry in marriages, even giving them are considered as common practice but ask yourself once is this the right. I agree the fact that all these are slowly disappearing from society. But still some prosper section do practice them.

One more new but a rising issue is of the "#BABA'S" we all are so educated, but though even in 21st century we follow these fools. Do really we need a Baba for our success? Just take a few minutes out of your schedule and think over it.

Literal meaning of hypocrisy states that the practice of claiming to have higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case. Let's take an example:

If you are a kid, you are always late to your class. Teacher has warned that if you will be late again you will have to write it 500 times. The next day you were late again but the teacher didn't notice. What you will do ?

  1. Go to teacher and ask apology.
  2. Write it 500 time honestly and submit it to your teacher.
  3. Or just take it as an opportunity and escape.
Be open to choose the option, no one is seeing you ( in spite the almighty) or no one is forcing you too be good.

Most of you, even I will choose the last one. Yup, that's the harsh truth. We all know its wrong but even then we will choose third one. We all will think that what's wrong is there to just escape one punishment.

But it's only the starting. There no other way than strong decision and dedicated action to overcome this. But I have faith in you and in whole of this country that one day it will be free of such Mentality.

The Indian Ideology for FOOD

Hi Readers, this week I am back with another interesting topic Indian Ideology towards food. We Indians eat a lot. And getting up in this environment I too love eating (but believe me I am not fat). But after seeing the change in food system, I wished if I could share this with you.
As you know India is a sub-tropical area. It has a hot, warm & wet type of climate. And the food we eat is not different, we Indians like to eat hot and spicy food or a most appropriate word should be "CHATPATA".
No Indian could resists there spicy food from chat-samosas to jalebi in snack and Kebabs-Curries-Tandoories in meals, we just love it. Each an everything has its own specialty and we love all of them. We just control ourselves after seeing these mouthwatering dishes and we are like just "Toot Paro" (Just broke into it).
But, nowadays, remarkable changes can be seen in the Indian food. The backbone of Indian food the street food culture has got a drastic change from properly cooked fried and savory chat-samosas to Chinese. Yes! a lot of Chinese influence can be seen all around. Stalls of Momo, Chow-mien, Friedrice, Chilly Potato/Paneer/Chicken, Manchurian, Noodles etc. can be seen more than the stalls of authentic Indian delicacies. We too are attracted by this Chinese culture. Not only Chinese but a lot of Western culture like Pizzas, Burgers, Subs, Fries Chicken, Tacos, and much much more can be seen throughout India.
This seems no problem till its in limited quantity. And we all know plenty of anything is dangerous but though we don't understand. The increasing trend of these Chinese and Western food that we are involving  in our day to day life is not a god sign. This is engulfing the future, the youth of our country. We all, especially  youth, is eating it a lot, many of us even daily. The chemicals like Ajinomoto   ( click for details) is found in most of the Chinese food which has a long term bad effect on our health. Plus these daily consumption of fried food are also accumulating fats in our body. Many cases of obesity in young kids can be seen.
I respect each and every food culture and don't advice anyone to don't eat it but eat it wisely in a desirable amount that wouldn't harm you.
But whatever be the situation Indians will not stop eating. We loved eating and always will. Ya, its true we should control eating all this daily or it will harm us and I think most of us is realizing and hope others will soon. So throwaway worries and eat what you want but in control.
Hope many of our readers today will take pledge ( at least a resolution, no !! ok ok  just a try, fine !) to control their habit and help in development of yourself, society and if possible the whole future.
And for their this step, lets celebrate with sweets. Ah, okay okay no sweets, only healthy food, done!!!!

Meet you all next week with another great topic till then Byee !!!

Hope

Hey Readers, this week I just want to share a poem with you all written by me. Its just for keeping up the hope after facing lots of darkness. You should never leave hope or be sad. And I just want to say whatever may be the situation think positive and try to find solution and just be happy !!!

The Time of Darkness

At the time dusk, there is a whole lot of darkness
After the bright easy day the night of hardness
At some point of life we start losing the hope
because of hurdles we can't pace and cope
We all start blaming the all mighty time
We cry from inside but show all is fine
We are broken and wish to die
Its when even our core soul cry
But its not the time to broke
Its the moment to be strong and integrate
Night is here to welcome next day
Its the nature's game that it play
Don't get 'afraid by the night
Instead get prepare for the fresh new light
The light that brightens the whole new hope
That brings to us the succeeding scope
If there were wouldn't be night
How will the day would filled with light
Its not bad to have some darkness
Bad is to dip into the sea of sadness
Be enough brave and fight the bad
Be too much happy and much glad
Be happy that you are blessed to see night
Think of those who get blind in light
The sparkle of day made them blind
The continuous power make them blind
But when those people face the night
They lose and fate cut their kite
So its better to face darkness of the night
Improve your mistakes and make the future bright!!

Our Education System

Hello Readers, today I would be writing about the educational system. In our country educational system goes like Nursery-Kindergarten ( pre-primary classes ) then classes 1-5 ( primary classes )then classes 6-8 ( middle school ) and then classes 9-12 ( high school ) and then to our stream specific colleges.
A very disappointing fact is that in the whole journey of our schooling we are never told to be creative or be practical. From the very first day of nursery to the last final exam of 12th standard its goes on like a cycle. we don't be creative , just study what is given in syllabus . from this I remember a very recent incident. It was very last month that my 9th grade exams finished. While the revision time was going and it was science period. We all were learning valencies of elements. In our book it was given that the valency of iodide is -1. A question raised in my mind that what would be the atomic no. of iodine. As it was not mentioned in the book, I asked it from my chemistry teacher. And then a very amazing thing happened. A just got a hard slap from my teacher. She scolded me and told me that if it is not mentioned in book, it will be not going to come in exam. So leaving these topics aside I should focus on the syllabus that would be coming in exam. That time I thought that we really study to just pass the exam not for knowledge.
Yes this is the harsh truth. I India we start a chapter in any of the subject do its question answer and then give exam of it and forget it after the exam. I study in CBSE system and till 8th standard I had 6 stets of exams

  1. FA 1 ( 30 marks exam of each subject in month of July )
  2. FA 2 ( 30 marks exam of each subject in month of August )
  3. SA 1 ( 80 marks exam of each subject in month of September )
  4. FA 3 ( 30 marks exam of each subject in month of November )
  5. FA 4 ( 30 marks exam of each subject in month of February )
  6. SA 2 ( 80 marks exam of each subject in month of March )
The rest of month is exempted from exam schedule because in month of April we just have joined the new class so everything is new to us. In May & June there are summer vacations. Then in October it festive time Diwali, Dussehra an d much-much more. In December-January its winter vacations and rest all months are in scheduled to exam. In short I can say we we give exam more and study less in a year. And for all these exam we are just learning question-answers and giving exam.and forgetting it. This cycle goes on like this and except some of the basic knowledge we gain nothing.
Even from some of the readers reading this I would like to ask. How many of you remembered the terms like stomata & eutrophication from biology? or What are the different fractions of of fractional distillation of Petroleum? or What is the 2nd law of physics or the 3 equations of motion? or From which year did the Akbar started its reign? or What is the total geographical area of India? or can anyone tell any 4 fundamental right of freedom? I think most of you can't answer it but believe me its not your fault its fault of our education system which make us learn things only for exam.
An another very harsh truth about this system is that subject like Computer Science studied more theoretically than practical (at least in Faridabad). I mean, Computers a topic that is meant to be studied practical is also done theoretically. This is our educational system.
Now I would like to draw your attention toward a very common stereotype of Indians (although many of us are now changed) that the students studying in Medical/Non-Medical streams are best and one studying in streams like Arts, Commerce or Humanities are generally week. Thank God that this perspective is now changing as students choose the streams in which they are good and the feel comfortable. If we combine passion with profession, no can stop us from being successful.
One more stereotype of Indians are that if one chooses Medical stream which contain Physics, Biology and Chemistry as main subjects he/she will become a doctor. There tons and tons of career options related to these topic but who cares. The one we are going to become is just a doctor. Same is with the Non-Medical stream also. It consists of Maths, Physics, and Chemistry as main subject and if we choose it we would become a engineers. Although we can become Cosmologist, Hydrologist, Architect, Astronaut, Aviation Inspector and much-much more but the typical thinking is we will become engineer. We should see that nowadays the the field-span of the careers have expanded and developed a great variety. So choosing a different option may provide good job opportunities and also we can be connected to the things that we like or that inspire us by choosing such options.
These were some of the disappointing fact of of educational system but it wasn't like this from starting. India have a great history in education. Its the India where the 0 was discovered and don't forget the decimal system. Nalanda University was once the largest university was too and in ancient time people from many far away places come here to study. Mother India has also given birth to many legends like Aryabhatta and not just in ancient times even under the reign of British, legends like C.V.Raman, J.C.Bose and many more. We have a lot about education in history but these new system is just ruining the educational future of ours as now day we are just focusing on passing exam.
I hope you were able to see through my vision and were able to connect to me and understand the feelings while reading this. I also ask you to give your precious feedback and views  or share your opinions or any incident with us.
Meet you all again next week with an another such topic to which you can connect with. Signing off for this week

Your Own
Harsh Prakash ( Prak )

Tuesday, 31 March 2015

I would start the blog by introducing myself. I am Harsh Prakash a 15 year old kid who lives in a city named Faridabad a part of Nation Capital Region of India. India. I study in 10th standard of Aravali International School. I have a great interest in Computer Science, Music and Maths. I am a logical person and try to find logic behind every thing. I don't believe things that have not any logical reason behind it. Also, in my point of view practical learning is more important than theoretical studies. Practical knowledge let us to think quick and out of the box.
Going through all this, I hope, you have got the idea why i have named my blog thinkPrak. Actually it describes both me and my thinking. Firstly, the word thinkPrak is taken from two words think and Prak (taken from my name Prakash) it means think like Prakash. But through pronunciation you will get idea of thinking. Here the word Prak comes from word "prac" in practical (yes it is pronounced as prac in practical) so this would mean think practical.
